Mondays from 6pm - 8pm from 17 February to 14 April (no class on the Labour Day holiday 10 March). The exam will be held directly after the last session on 14 April 2025.
Building on the introductory knowledge gained through WSET Level 1 Award in Wines, WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is offered as a 16-hour face to face course delivered over eight weeks and is the required precursor to all other higher levels of study with WSET.
This course is aimed at those seeking to expand their understanding of wine from a global perspective and learn more about international wine standards. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines will suit wine lovers, including wine industry professionals, who would like to deepen their knowledge, particularly of European wine.
This is an accredited course and all candidates who successfully complete the examination are awarded the WSET Level 2 Award in Wine certificate and lapel pin.
You’ll improve your core understanding of wine as this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology, particularly of European wines. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the style and quality of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:
Chardonnay

Merlot
Pinot Noir
Syrah/Shiraz
The style and quality of wines:
made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:
Sparkling wines
Fortified wines
Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality
Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
Principles of food and wine pairing
Course delivery
Minimum of 28 hours of study time, including 16 guided learning hours of face to face classroom delivery (including exam)

Assessment
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 60 minutes. The exam will be held directly after the last session on 14 April.
Please note: No refunds will be issued after the start of this course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Archive Academy cancels. All sessions must be attended in person unless otherwise agreed and missed sessions are forfeited and there are no make up sessions. Please note there is a re-sit exam fee of $250 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
