This course is aimed at those seeking to expand their understanding of wine from a global perspective and learn more about international wine standards. WSET Level 2 Award in Wines will suit wine lovers, including wine industry professionals, who would like to deepen their knowledge, particularly of European wine.
The course fee includes access to the WSET Online Classroom, the Student Study Pack including reading material and the Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT) shipped to you anywhere within Australia and a remotely invigilated exam you can sit from the comfort of your home. There is an option to also purchase the equipment kit (see below) which includes all necessary wine samples for the course.
Delivery
This course is a 5-week, 6 module online learning programme with educator support available for this time. The course modules should be followed in sequential order during this 5-week window. There is a recommendation of 6 hours study per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the textbook. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study.

Assessment
This course is assessed by an exam of 50 multiple-choice questions that will be sat in your own home with remote invigilation. The exam must be completed in 60 minutes and the date and time of the exam will be arranged to suit you. This is an accredited course and all candidates who successfully complete the examination are awarded the WSET Level 2 Award in Wine certificate and lapel pin.
Equipment (optional extra - add $200)
There are a number of items required to complete the practical activities involved in this course including;
12 x 50ml still wine samples
2 x 200ml sparkling wine samples
MSG powder, salt and a sweet biscuit
a tasting mat
You’ll improve your core understanding of wine as this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology, particularly of European wines. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

Module 4: Still White Wine
Learn how the environmental and winemaking factors influence the principal and regionally important white grape varieties, how they influence the style and quality of the wines produced.
Learn the meaning of labelling terms indicating style and quality.
Module 5: Other Styles of Wine
Learn about the key grape varieties used to produce the principal styles of sparkling and fortified wines.
Learn the key wine making processes used to make sparkling and fortified wines.
Learn the meaning of labelling terms indicating style and quality.
Module 6: Revision & Feedback Questionnaire
There is a mock multiple choice test to complete.
Exam dates
To be set with you after enrolment - the exam must be sat at the completion of the 5 week course timeframe.

Please note: no refunds will be issued within 5 working days prior to the start of the course. Before that period a 75% refund is allowed if a student cancels their enrolment. A 100% refund will apply if Archive Academy cancels. Please note there is a re-sit exam fee of $250 if a student does not attend the exam for any reason.
